Bernalillo County Social Services provides health and quality of life initiatives for Bernalillo County residents to improve economic well-being, education, health, and family & community development.

  • Bernalillo County, the City of Albuquerque and Albuquerque Public Schools founded the ABC Community Schools program, which aims to make schools the hubs of their communities by providing  training, technical assistance, and tools to assist in the coordination and integration of family supports, extended learning, community engagement and health services at selected school sites within Bernalillo County.
  • Bernalillo County’s Summer Lunch Program feeds hundreds of children every summer.
  • Bernalillo County’s Health Promotion team implements research-led policies and programs designed to reduce obesity and smoking, as well as maintaining anti-bullying and anti-teen suicide programs in Bernalillo County.

     Through a competitive solitication process, Bernalillo County Office of Health and Social Services solicits Requests for Proposal (RFP) to non profits for Social Service Program awards and Community Event Sponsorships that provide health and quality of life initiatives for Bernalillo County residents to improve economic well-being, education, health, and family and community development. Social Service Program awards fund non-profit organizations to provide social services to county residents who are most vulnerable. Terms of awards are established based on community needs and availability of funds and may span multiple years. Community Event Sponsorships fund community events that are free to the public. Awarded events shall support activities that ensure access to cultural, health and quality of life initiatives.

  • “Past and Present: Barelas Community” Presented by Larry Perea The Stories of the Middle Rio Grande - Villages of the Rio Grande series is a collection of lectures by local historians designed to bring to life the rich history and cultural traditions of the Albuquerque area from historic Old Town traveling south to the Pueblo of Isleta, one neighborhood at time. The events are free and take place at 10:30 a.m. at the Gutierrez-Hubbell House, 6029 Isleta SW, on the fourth Saturday of every month, from February to September 2016.
