10/28/2015

At its Oct. 27, 2015 Administrative Meeting, the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners acknowledged and honored the USS Albuquerque and its countless crew members for 33 years of service to the United States. The USS Albuquerque (SSN-706), a Los Angeles-class attack submarine, was commissioned May 21, 1983. The 361-foot, 11-inch vessel, based at the Naval Base Point Loma in San Diego, Calif., carries 140 crew members. Her motto is “Silentum Excubitor,” which is Latin for "Silent Sentinel". The USS Albuquerque is scheduled to start the decommissioning process in November, 2015.
