The Public Relations and Education Department provides updated material and information on fire safety and prevention to all members of The Bernalillo County Fire Department. This allows the citizens and communities the opportunity to see and talk to members of the department and know that they are getting up to date material and information on fire safety and prevention in their businesses, homes and schools. Not only do we teach the public about fire safety but we also teach interested citizens how to use a fire extinguisher and tips on how to prevent a fire. Our specialty is at teaching children of all ages. We do ask that when requesting a time for any type of event or course, that you try to schedule it between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm with a minimum of 5 children or adults (if possible). We do put on presentations after the recommended hours for special events and groups.
We also attend Neighborhood Association Meetings when requested by the association to educate the neighborhood on topics such as Wildland fire danger, fire prevention and any other fire related topics that you would like us to teach.
We are proud to say that we have a very professional and sharp looking group of men and women on our Honor Guard. They attend many functions such as: special events, funerals for fire department members, memorials and presenting the colors.
If you are interested in scheduling time with a specific fire station, reserve time with a crew to come to your location or to have a class at your next Neighborhood Association meeting please feel free to call (505) 468-1310 and ask to speak with your community relations representative – Diana Speakman.
