We offer the following programs:

  • Youth Summer Recreation Program
    Vista Grande Community Center's recreation program has convenient schedules and affordable options. At our program, your child will have a safe place to make friends, exercise, play, create, explore nature, and go on field trips. Our program is managed by expert recreation leaders with more than 50 years of combined experience. At Vista Grande’s Summer Recreation Program, kids have a place to be kids! The summer recreation program is for children aged kindergarten through eighth grade.
  • Spring Break Camp - Coincides with APS Spring Break - Coming in Spring 2018
  • Wrestling Skills Class - Coming in Fall 2017. This is only a skills class.  The team will not participate in tournaments.
  • Los Vecinos/Vista Grande Youth Volleyball League - Coming in Spring 2018

Youth ​Enrichment Classes

  • Shorin – Ryu Karate  
    These youth classes develop character in each student and each student’s progress is measured individually. It also works on qualities such as courtesy, respect, and discipline. Both classes develop self-confidence, and self-defense skills. They are fun, safe, non-competitive atmosphere classes.

  • Teen/ Adult Open Gym Basketball
    This program is designed for anyone who wishes to play a competitive game or non competitive game of basketball, for high school students and adults.
  • Rules: 
    • Games are played 5-on-5 full court, first 10 players to show up get to play first game.
    • Baskets count for 1 point, 20 feet or longer shot counts for 2 points.
    • First team to get to 15 points wins.
    • Winning team of first game played gets to play against next team waiting. After that, each team whether they win or lose plays two games and then sits and waits in line for their next game.
    • Players call their own fouls. No free throws, just take the ball out at top of key.
    • If there are more than 20 players present then the side courts will be used to allow more playing time.
  • Teen/ Adult Open Gym Volleyball
    Can't get enough volleyball in your life?  We are now open  three days a week for those who enjoy playing volleyball. Bring your friends, co-workers and family for pick-up games.   
  • Rules:
    • Teams are comprised of six players based on first come first serve.
    • Winning team of first game played gets to play against next team waiting. After that, each team whether they win or lose plays two games and then sits and waits in line for their next game.
    • Players call their own fouls.
    • If there are 24 or more players present then two nets will be set up. A third net can be set up for resting players to practice.
    • Rally scoring will be followed. The first team to 15 points wins. Matches are considered to be one game for open gym.
  •  East Mountain Ice Elite Basketball Training Program East Mountain Ice Basketball Program is based at Vista Grande Community Center and will be conducting its Elite Basketball Training Program. This is East Mountain’s only elite basketball training program that is open to all athletes that play or have the potential to play at their respective schools or for those who just want to improve their skills (ball handling, shooting, rebounding, defense and court awareness). The program is scheduled for Monday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm and on Saturdays from 1 to 3 pm or 3 to 6 pm depending on East Mountain High School’s utilization of the gym. To ensure that each athlete admitted to the program will receive quality instruction, the program will be limited to 48 players. The program is seeking to admit girls as well as boys. Each player must be in the 3th grade and above to be eligible to participate.

Senior Programs

  • Garden Club 
    Do you have a green thumb or an interest in learning more about gardening? Join the Garden Club! This is a social club that meets monthly. The meetings are full of information shared by both members and guest speakers. This is also a great way to become involved with charitable projects.

  • Weekly crafts, outdoor activities, and experiments will be offered to deepen your discovery of the natural world. Each visitor can make a journal and crafts to take home. Activities are all correlated to school science standards making this a great opportunity for homeschoolers to learn, explore and play! Each month has a different topic.
