- Wednesday, May 29
The office will also be open Saturday, May 18 from 8 a.m. - noon.

The County Assessor's Office determines the property value of homes, businesses, and other taxable property in Bernalillo County. The office also prepares the tax roll for the county treasurer on real property (land and improvements), personal property (business equipment), livestock, and mobile homes.
The priority of the Assessor’s Office is to maintain trust, integrity and transparency to the public. The Assessor’s Office has dedicated itself to updating its technology and policies as well as providing hands-on assistance to taxpayers.

The assessor has the following basic responsibilities:
- Locate all taxable property in the county and identify the ownership
- Establish a value for all property subject to property taxation
- List the value of all property on the assessment roll
- Apply all legal exemptions

The assessor does not:
- Compute property tax bills
- Collect property taxes
- Establish property tax laws
- Set rules by which property is appraised

Enacting Legislation:
County Assessors shall determine values of property for property taxation purposes in accordance with the Property Tax Code [Chapter 7, Article 35 to 38 NMSA1978], the articles of the New Mexico Constitution and the regulations, orders, rulings and instructions of the department. They shall also implement a program of updating property values so that current and correct values of property are maintained and shall have sole responsibility and authority at the County level for property valuation maintenance, subject only to the general supervisory powers of the director.
County Assessor Tanya R. Giddings today announced a new location in the Near North Valley as part of the assessor’s Community Outreach Program for property owners who may have questions about their property assessments.
The 2013 Notices of Value will be sent to the owners of more than 273,000 Bernalillo County properties on May 1, Assessor Tanya R. Giddings has announced.
It’s official - Tanya R. Giddings is the new Bernalillo County assessor. She was sworn-in today after the Board of County Commissioners unanimously appointed her to the position at its Jan. 8 meeting.
On Jan. 8, county commissioners unanimously appointed Tanya R. Giddings as the new Bernalillo County assessor. She will be sworn in on Friday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Court of Wills, Estates & Probate on the sixth floor of One Civic Plaza. County Clerk Maggie Toulouse Oliver will administer the oath of office to Giddings.
Bernalillo County residents interested in serving as county assessor will have another opportunity to apply for the job. Starting Dec. 21, the Board of County Commissioners will accept resumes from candidates through Dec. 28 at 5 p.m.
