BernCo Commission Honors MLK Muliticultural Council Founder Jewel Hall

The Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners recognizes Jewel L. Hall for her dedication to the Bernalillo County community, as co-founder of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Multicultural Council and champion for access to education and a just society, and wishes her the best in her post-retirement endeavors.

BernCo Commission Takes Action Against Drug Companies

The Bernalillo County Commission has voted to sue pharmaceutical companies that manufacture and distribute addictive prescription opioid pain medications. The lawsuit will seek changes in marketing and prescription practices as well as compensation for increased costs to Bernalillo County taxpayers.

Take A Ride on Us

BernCo and partners announced a new program called Take a Ride On Us where patrons can contact Uber for a safe ride to or from a drinking establishment and the program will pay for the first $10 of the ride.

BernCo Bernie Debuts Second Book

BernCo Bernie’s second book, The Adventures of BernCo Bernie – Another Day to Play made its debut at a book premiere event held at the historic Hiland Theater March 12. Children who attended the red carpet event had successfully completed BernCo Bernie’s reading challenge held in February.

Fire Department Showcases New Fire Engine in the Village of Los Ranchos with Push-in Ceremony

The county Fire Department and the Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque unveiled a new fire engine at Bernalillo County Fire Department (BCFD) Station 30 on Wednesday, Feb. 22.
