BernCo Meets with Government Officials from North Africa and the Near East to Discuss Transparency in Local Government

Commissioner Wayne Johnson and representatives from the BernCo Compliance Office and Economic Development met today with government officials from North Africa and the Near East to discuss transparency in local government. The group is part of a U.S. State Department project on Transparency in federal, state and local government.

Halloween Bash at Vista Grande Community Center Was Fun for All

On the night of Friday, Oct. 28, the Vista Grande Community Center held its annual Halloween celebration for the community. Approximately 150 people braved the haunted trail, with one person even running out of their shoes.

On Friday, October 7, 2016, Bernalillo County Commission Vice Chair Wayne Johnson hosted 45 government representatives from several provinces throughout China. The delegation was composed of officials who are responsible for economic development, movies and TV events, and tourist promotion with emphasis on hot air ballooning events.

On Sept. 24, 2016, Commission Vice Chair Wayne Johnson and the South Skyland Neighborhood Association cut the ribbon on upgrades to Sunflower Meadow Park. New Little Free Libraries, a renovated playground and volleyball court are among the improvements.

  • Seniors 50 +who are members of the City of Albuquerque Department of Senior Affairs can register for adapted aquatics classes taught at the UNM Therapeutic Pool (92 degree water). Participants will be led through a series of range of motion exercises that will increase joint mobility and develop muscular strength. Transportation from Vista Grande is provided and leaves the center at 12:20. Space is limited. Class cost is donation of $8. Register in person or over the phone at Palo Duro Sports and Fitness 880-2800 or Los Volcanes Fitness Center 839-3710 or North Domingo Baca Fitness Center at 764-6496.
