Hey cowboys and cowgirls, it’s time to strap your boots on and get ready for the Fourth Annual BernCo Bernie’s Sheep Day and First Impression Youth Day Rodeo, Saturday, Aug. 5 at Bernalillo County’s Dennison Park Rodeo Grounds in the South Valley, 7003 Coors Blvd. SW.

The event will run from 9 a.m. ‘til the sheep come home.

There will be rough stock and timed events in the youth rodeo. Events include barrels, poles, flags, goat tying, steer dobbin’, bull riding, calf riding, mutton busting, stick horse and more.

Age categories are 6 and under, 7 – 9, 10 – 13, 14 – 18 and an open division for team roping, ribbon roping, breakaway and chute doggin’. All events are free for the youth to participate but pre-registration is required, just go online to www.FIRC.bravesites.com. There is a 20 contestant cap per event.

Cowboys and cowgirls can also see sheep shearing demonstrations, shop with artisan vendors and learn more about New Mexico's unique farm and ranch heritage. 

This is a free family event and the entire community is welcome.
