Join the Great American Cleanup on Saturday, April 22 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Keep Bernalillo County beautiful by participating in the Great American Cleanup!

We are looking for sports teams, families, neighborhood and civic organizations, military groups, business leaders, school, church groups, and anyone else interested in a beautiful community to adopt a location in your community and do a cleanup.

This a great way for students to earn community service hours. This is a public right of way, school, open space, and park cleanup. Take pride in your community!

 Pick up your supplies and dispose of your litter at the Community Center closest to you: Raymond G Sanchez Community Center, 9800 4th St. NW Westside Community Center – 150 Isleta Blvd. SW Stanford Center (by UNMH), 111 Stanford Dr., NE Paradise Hills Community Center – 5901 Paradise Blvd. NW Los Vecinos Community Center – 478 NM 333, Tijeras, NM 87059.

Trash bags will be supplied. T-shirts and goodie bags while supplies last.

  • Weekly crafts, outdoor activities, and experiments will be offered to deepen your discovery of the natural world. Each visitor can make a journal and crafts to take home. Activities are correlated to school science standards making this a great opportunity for homeschoolers to learn, explore and play! Contact (505) 314-0420.

  • Learn wood carving Mondays from 9- to 11 a.m. at Los Vecinos Community Center. Classes are for those ages 18 and up. Pay a $12 membership fee - seniors over 55 and veterans are free. Questions? Call the center at (505) 314-0240.

  • Seniors 50 +who are members of the City of Albuquerque Department of Senior Affairs can register for adapted aquatics classes taught at the UNM Therapeutic Pool (92 degree water). Participants will be led through a series of range of motion exercises that will increase joint mobility and develop muscular strength. Transportation from Vista Grande is provided and leaves the center at 12:20. Space is limited. Class cost is donation of $8. Register in person or over the phone at Palo Duro Sports and Fitness 880-2800 or Los Volcanes Fitness Center 839-3710 or North Domingo Baca Fitness Center at 764-6496.
