The New Mexico Association of Counties, at its recent legislative conference in Santa Fe, presented Bernalillo County with a Risk Awareness Program award in recognition of the county’s achievement in reducing claims during 2014. That year, Bernalillo County reduced workers’ compensation claims by eight percent, multi-line (buildings and property) claims by 18 percent, auto claims by seven percent, and law enforcement claims by 10 percent.

NMAC Risk Management Director, Taylor Horst, says, “Bernalillo County’s commitment to safety awareness participation in the Risk Awareness Program has resulted in not only making the workplace safer but has reduced costs to the community.  The leadership and employees of Bernalillo County are to be commended for their hard work.”

“It is great to see that the excellent work done every day by the Bernalillo County Risk Management employees is being honored by the NMAC,” says County Manager Tom Zdunek. “Congratulations also go out to all Bernalillo County employees whose awareness of safety issues also contributed to this award.”

The NMAC also recognized Bernalillo County with an honorable mention in the safety award category.

The New Mexico Association of Counties is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing and serving New Mexico’s 33 counties.
