What do we do?

  • Teams including industry professionals and community members, who have life experience in specific areas of need, have been assembled to identify system shortfalls in the areas of Medical Health Benefits and Behavioral Health Services.
  • A study has been conducted to identify those in the behavioral health system most impacted by system shortfalls (target population).
  • Four target areas have been identified through research studies, professional consulting, and meeting with agency providers in our community: Crisis Stabilization - Mobile Crisis Teams; Community Supports - Community Engagement Teams; Prevention, Intervention, & Harm Reduction - Addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs); Housing - Establish and provide housing that is inclusive of much needed supportive care; Expand Existing Permanent Supportive Housing Program; Targeting High Acuity Populations
  • How this will be achieved and contributors: Existing county resources in behavioral health have been realigned to better support the system as a whole; Work with the City of Albuquerque and the University of New Mexico Hospital system to further align their systems to support a comprehensive system in our community; Work with state entities to better serve the crisis stabilization portion of our community’s behavioral health system; A comprehensive system of data collection and research to ensure appropriate spending and accountability is being built through contract with the Institute for Social Research; Provide transparency for the community via a system that will allow constituents to review all actions related to behavioral health for the County, City, as well as the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Government Commission (ABCGC).
