Bernco Commission Approves Cost and Efficiency Review

    3:02 PM

Art de la CruzFacing increasing costs and less revenue, the Bernalillo County Commission Tuesday evening passed a resolution requiring an outside, independent review of county government operations by Quality New Mexico.

Quality New Mexico is a nonprofit established in 1993 to help New Mexico businesses and public sector organizations achieve their best performance, using the Baldridge Criteria for Performance Excellence as the tool to conduct reviews of organizations.

The review will look at ways to improve performance, drive results, exceed customer expectations and develop a high-performing workforce, among other considerations.

The measure was sponsored by Commission Vice Chair Art De La Cruz.

“I want to assure we’re doing everything we can to operate county government as efficiently and economically as possible,” Commissioner De La Cruz says. “I’m confident that Quality New Mexico can help both the county manager and the commission gain new insights into county government as we work to balance the budget for the coming fiscal year.”
