Why is this measure important?

Being an accredited facility assures adherence to standards relevant to all facility medical principles. Following these principles translates into improved inmate health, fewer grievances and lawsuits, and reduced health risks to the community once an inmate is released.

National Commission on Correction Healthcare (NCCHC);

  1. 40 Essential Standards; 38 essential standards that apply to MDC are tracked using a spreadsheet
  2. 27 Important Standards; 26 important standards that apply to MDC are tracked using a spreadsheet

How is the measure calculated?

  1. 40 Essential Standards; 38 apply to MDC and must be 100% compliant
  2. 27 Important Standards; 26 apply to MDC and must be at least 85% compliant
