    Measure Overview

    # Objective Strategic Plan Goal Business Strategy
    O99

Implement an asset preservation program for roads

    Public Infrastructure Cost Avoid/Risk Mitigation

    Action Steps

    1. Create a baseline of current road conditions
    2. Identify all roads 7 years and older in GIS database
    3. Assess the asset needs
    4. Apply fog seal, slurry seal, and/or crack seal

    Why is this measure important?

Pavement preservation is the proactive maintenance of roads to prevent them from getting to a condition where reconstruction is necessary. Preventative maintenance costs are far less than the ultimate cost to replace.

Where does the data come from?

    GIS/CIP ranking, GIS, inspections, Accela

    How is the measure calculated?

Plan to implement asset preservation program for roads may include:

    1. Developing in-house and/or acquiring an asset preservation program where you input data and set thresholds to determine timing and appropriate preservation method
    2. The information and data from existing GIS/CIP ranking will be utilized in the implementation of as asset preservation program
