    Why is this measure important?

    This normalized measure is used industry-wide to compare between departments, organizations, or time periods both the propensity and severity of injuries since increasingly severe injuries render an increasing number of days away from work.

    How is the measure calculated?

    The total number of days during the period that all injured employees were absent as a result of a workplace injury, divided by the total number of full time employees during the same period.
