Reducing Racial and Ethnic Disparities Committee Releases Documentary Video

JDAI sites throughout the country have been provided with strategies, tools and technologies to work at eliminating racial and ethnic disparities in the use of detention. Detention Utilization Studies, best practice programming, examples of policies and practices, to name but a few. Yet, disparities and overrepresentation of youth of color in detention and the youth justice system persist.

Achieving equity for system involved youth of color compelled the Bernalillo County JDAI site to engage in challenging conversations with community partners, about race/ethnicity and the impact of structural racism on youth, their families and communities of color.
