Bernalillo County operates two emergency notification systems with different missions.

The Office of Emergency Management operates the Nixel notifications system. This system is used for emergency notifications regarding disasters, evacuations, weather or fire emergencies. The service is reliable, with no cost to the county or to those who choose to use this program. Residents within the city of Albuquerque and in the unincorporated areas of Bernalillo County will receive messages as part of their cell phone text messaging plan. The Department of Emergency Communications manages the Emergency Notification that is utilized by different Bernalillo County departments that have regional emergency notification needs. This could include active shooter incidents or major fires or chemical spills with specific instructions for the public. To sign up click here.

Bernalillo County recommends signing up for both notifications systems to ensure you are notified of any type of emergency.
