Bernalillo County’s Animal Control Ordinance, Bernalillo County Code Chapter Six, (the Ordinance) was enacted to protect animals from neglect and abuse, to protect residents from annoyance and injury, and to encourage responsible ownership of animals as pets. The Ordinance was last amended in April 1999.

Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department's K9 Team Take Home Top Awards

On December 1st and 2nd, members of the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department's K9 team participated in the 2nd Annual Southwest Regional K9 Trials.   Deputies and their K9s competed with other law enforcement officers from all over New Mexico.  Several of the deputies and their K9s took home top awards.

Clerk Explains Marriage License Information Online

On Tuesday, July 24, Bernalillo County Clerk Maggie Toulouse was notified that recently recorded marriage applications were fully viewable on the County’s website via online document search. The applications contained sensitive information such as social security numbers and phone numbers that the office typically redacts when a member of the public comes to inspect them. “I was notified by a member of the public and the online document search program was shut down immediately until we could identify and resolve the problem,” says Clerk Toulouse. ”We worked with our IT Department and the vendor, Tyler Technologies, and the problem was resolved within a few hours.”

Task Force Created To Deal With Methamphetamine Problem In Middle Rio Grande Valley

ACA Auditors Declare Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center One Of The Best Jails In The Country
ACA accreditation is considered the Gold Standard in the field of Corrections.

ACA auditors completed their three day, round the clock evaluation of the jail. The audit includes an in-depth look at training, safety standards, enforcement of rules and regulations, and adhering to the best policies and practices. Special attention was given to MDC’s onsite Health Services Unit and delivery of health care and psychiatric services to inmates.

A Brief, North Valley Road Closure Starts Tomorrow

Horton Lane will be closed at 2nd Street for two days starting tomorrow, January 30, to provide sewer and water service to a new subdivision. A detour route will be available from 2nd to Ranchitos to 4th Street. Local residents and emergency rescue agencies have been notified of the work.
