Absentee Voting

Absentee Voting is conducted by mail and on a paper ballot.

Anyone may vote absentee as long as they are registered in the county in which he/she resides.

However, you must request an absentee ballot by calling the Bureau of Elections at 505-468-1291

Absentee voting begins on the 28th day prior to Election Day, however you may apply for an absentee ballot at any time. An Absentee ballot application may be requested by calling our office at 468-1291.

Please allow time for delivery as our office must process the application, certify your eligibility, and mail your absentee ballot to the address you provide. Follow the instructions printed on the packaging, and drop your completed ballot in the mail.

Your ballot will be delivered to the County Clerk’s office to be counted on Election Day.

You can now track the mailed/received status of your ballot application and ballot by using the Absentee Ballot tracker.

For questions about absentee voting, please contact  the Bureau of Elections at 468-1291.

Note to individuals who write or email our office seeking to vote absentee:  You MUST send us an address to send your application either on the envelope or contained within the e-mail.
