About  Patrick J. Padilla

Patrick J. Padilla was elected to his second term as Bernalillo County Treasurer. During his first term, he focused much of his attention on improving customer service and property tax payment options.

He implemented a new, on-line tax payment system that is used by many residents and recently implemented monthly property tax payments. Patrick also helped Bernalillo County receive a prestigious AAA bond rating. 

He previously served two terms as Bernalillo County Treasurer from 1988-1992, 2005-2008 and as a Bernalillo County Commissioner from 1983-1986. He was twice elected President of the National Association of Hispanic Elected Officials for the National Association of Counties and President of the New Mexico Association of Counties. 

 

Patrick was born in Albuquerque, graduated from Rio Grande High School and TVI, now CNM. He completed numerous business courses at the University of Albuquerque before founding the accounting and income tax firm, Padilla and Company, PA. Patrick is an Enrolled Agent licensed to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. He is also a member of the National Association of Public Accountants, the New Mexico Society of Public Accountants and serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of County Collectors, Treasurers and Finance Officers.
