FireStation 36, formerly known as Station 29, at 501 Bear Canyon Lane NW, just north of Edith and Osuna, will be staffed once again by Bernalillo County Fire Department (BCFD) personnel beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 8:00 a.m.
“The Bernalillo County Fire Department is proud to bring back an old member of the family into the fold,” said Fire Chief John Garcia. “The newly re-named Station 36 strengthens the Bernalillo County Fire presence in the North Valley by giving us a fourth station to help protect all the citizens of the area.
Under an agreement between the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County, the station had been staffed by Albuquerque Fire Department personnel forthe last ten years with the county retaining ownership of the building. Now BCFD crews have come back to their former home.
Station 36 is now part of the Fire Department’s Battalion North, together with Station 30, on Rio Grande in Los Ranchos, Station 31 on 2nd Street, just north of Alameda, and Station 35, near Paseo del Norte and Tramway.
