Bernalillo County – Bernalillo County Public Works is hosting and encouraging proper e-waste recycling. During the month of November, there are several recycling sites where residents can properly dispose of e-waste--for free.
E-waste is defined as the outdated computers, cell phones, printers, microwaves and thousands of other electronic devices commonly used today. Sending an old computer to the landfill is undesirable because some of its components can be re-used and some parts are made with toxic chemicals such as mercury and must be disposed of in special ways. The global technological revolution is fueling a rapidly increasing e-waste disposal problem.
E-waste disposal locations and times for the month of November (televisions will NOT be accepted at any of the locations):
Nov. 12 | 8 a.m. to noon | Valle del Bosque Park, 480 Sunset SW (Atrisco Little League Field between Central and Bridge SW)
Nov. 12 | 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. | Wellesley property, 2400 Wellesley Rd NE (Old Blue Cross Blue Shield just behind the Dee's Cheesecake Factory)
Nov. 19 | 8 a.m. to noon | Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center, 9800 4th Street NW
