Bernalillo County – To commemorate New Mexico’s 100th birthday today Friday 6th, Bernalillo County is planning to serve cake to the first 100 residents who walk through the doors at One Civic Plaza—beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The birthday treat will be served in front of the main entrance of the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Government Center. The celebratory cake will be shaped like the state of New Mexico with an artistic flair, featuring the famous Zia symbol for icing.
On Jan. 6, 1912, New Mexico became the 47th state in the U.S.
The Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners will formally recognize the state’s centennial with a proclamation at the next County Commission meeting, Tuesday, Jan. 10.
