Bernalillo County has selected New Mexico resident Vincent C. Murphy as its next deputy  county manager for Community Services. Murphy has professional experience in both the private and public sectors. He has worked in several education and public policy positions since 1978. For the past 20 years, Murphy has worked in the private sector as an organizational development director and consultant. In his current position, he serves as the director of government relations for local public relations giant, The Garrity Group. He also served as chief of staff for U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman from 1983 to 1991.

“After a long review process and careful consideration, I have made the selection for the deputy county manager for Community Services, thus filling the last of the deputy county manager vacancies.  Mr. Vince Murphy has accepted an offer of employment and is anticipated to start on Feb. 22,” says Bernalillo County Manager Tom Zdunek.

“Community services is an integral part of Bernalillo County’s mission to serving our residents,” says Zdunek. “I believe Mr. Murphy will do a wonderful job managing the division’s Capital Improvement Program, planning and code enforcement activities, environmental policies, housing programs, and community leisure services.”

The county recently filled its three other deputy county manager vacancies, which include Teresa Byrd as deputy county manager for the Finance Division, Tom Swisstack as deputy county manager for Public Safety, and Jarvis Middleton as deputy county manager for Public Works.

Murphy holds a masters degree in Public Administration from the University of New Mexico and a bachelors degree from the College of Santa Fe.
