Waste Management, a leader in the use of alternative fuel vehicles, will debut its first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) truck in New Mexico. The CNG truck services residents in Bernalillo County’s South Valley. District 2 County Commission Chair Art De La Cruz, and students from Rio Grande High School’s Ravens For A Greener Environment group will receive an up-close look at the truck in a special ceremony at the school today.
For every Class 8 diesel powered truck that is converted to natural gas, diesel fuel is reduced by an average of 8,000 gallons per year. This reduces greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by over 21 metric tons per year per truck.
