Bernalillo County’s Parks and Recreation Department will present a free class for parents and children this Friday evening on preventing cyberbullying, or bullying that occurs online.
The class, located at Los Vecinos Community Center in the East Mountains, intends to teach parents how to monitor their children’s social media over the summer. Light refreshments will be served to participants. Music and entertainment for children will be available as well, at the nearby skate park.
“Social media offers many ways to communicate, and unfortunately some children have experienced bullying or harassment while online,” Commissioner Wayne Johnson says. “This short tutoring session will show parents how to sign up for social media and keep an eye on what’s happening while their children are online.”
