Bernalillo County Clerk Maggie Toulouse Oliver reminds residents that the deadline to register to vote for the 2012 General Election is Tuesday, October 9, 2012.
“Individuals who are registering to vote for the first time can request an application by calling 243-VOTE or stopping by our office on the 6th floor of One Civic Plaza, NW. Registration forms are also available at MVD offices and other government agencies,” says Clerk Toulouse Oliver. “It’s also a great opportunity to remind residents to update their voter registration information if they have changed addresses. A new address may mean they are eligible to vote in a different congressional, state or local district.”
There are currently 415,308 registered voters in Bernalillo County.
Also, Absentee Ballot applications are currently being accepted by the Clerk’s Office. Absentee Ballots will begin being mailed out on October 9, 2012. “Many voters continue to use the absentee ballot option to cast their vote,” says Clerk Toulouse Oliver. “It is a trend that continues to increase each year.”
