County Clerk Maggie Toulouse Oliver would like to remind voters about some important dates regarding the General Election for 2012. For information on any voting method or voter registration, please call 243-VOTE (8683) or visit www.bernco.gov/myvotecenter.
Voter Registration will close on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. “Today is National Voter Registration Day and I would encourage all those eligible to register to vote,” says Clerk Toulouse Oliver. Voter registration forms can be found at the Clerk’s office, can be mailed by calling and requesting a form at 243-VOTE and at any library or MVD office.
Military and Overseas ballots are now available. “We mailed out approximately 700 ballots last Saturday to those who are serving in the military or residing overseas,” says Clerk Toulouse Oliver. “Any member of the military or citizen overseas can apply for an absentee ballot by visiting our new overseas and military voter website at https://bernalillo.overseasvotefoundation.org.”
In-state and domestic absentee ballots will be mailed out beginning October 9, 2012. An application form must be completed and mailed back to the Clerk’s Office. Application forms are available now, and an Absentee Ballot Tracker will be available at www.bernco.gov/mvi . The tracker will show when the office received the application, when the ballot was mailed to the voter and when it was returned.
Sample ballots will be available on-line or in-person at the Clerk’s Office within the next week.
Early Voting for the General Election gets underway on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the My Vote Center at the Clerk’s Office Annex Downtown, 620 Lomas, NW, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
