Throughout the day, the Public Works road crews have been plowing, salting and sanding the roads in the unincorporated areas of Bernalillo County. In the East Mountain area, the snow began falling at 7 a.m. and has hardly stopped since. All of the major roads have been cleared and the road crews are currently working to clear the secondary roads.
They will continue salting and sanding the county’s roads in the unincorporated areas into the evening to ensure that East Mountain commuters have a clear drive home.
Current temperatures are below freezing and the road crews are keeping an eye out for icy and slick road conditions. They are re-salting and re-sanding the problem areas as needed.
The BernCo road crews plan to get on the roads again at 4a.m. tomorrow morning to clear the major roads for the morning commute into the city.
Residents should call the Bernalillo County Public Works main number at 848-1503 to report snowy road conditions outside of the city limits. Calls for service are logged and transmitted throughout day and night to road crew supervisors for their action.
