The grants are available to nonprofit organizations that provide community services or host cultural performances and events. This year’s grants will emphasize programs that support education, health, and housing.
Past awards have gone to groups that serve the homeless, victims of domestic violence, low-income families, senior citizens and after school programs, for example. The program has also sponsored community events such as Globalquerque and Fusion Theatre’s "Pay What You Wish" program.
“It is part of Bernalillo County's mission to support the nonprofits working to improve our community,” Commission Chair Maggie Hart Stebbins says. “This year, the grants will be focused on programs that will have the greatest impact on education and community health, and bring more arts and cultural performances to our residents.”
The county has allocated $250,000 for this program overall. Nonprofits must meet certain eligibility requirements in order to receive an award.
Applicants need to register with the county Purchasing Department to access the application for this program. Contact Natara Landrau by e-mail at email@example.com for more information about the application, which is part of a formal procurement process.
