This special event at 4812 Isleta Blvd. S.W. will showcase the incredible bird-watchingat this Open Space farm. Guests will also receive a free copy of the new South Valley Bird Guide. Activities include a Birding 101 class and a bird-banding demonstration.
The event also features model planes, glider plane demonstrations, historical information as well as a flyover from Chile Flights to celebrate the farm’s history as a landing strip and airplane repair business.
“Spring has arrived and so has another family-friendly event from Bernalillo County’s top-notch Open Space program,” Commissioner Art De La Cruz says. “Saturday’s event is a great opportunity to learn more about the birds and wildlife that live at the Durand Open Space farm, and enjoy the outdoors just minutes from Downtown Albuquerque.”
The Soaring the South Valley event also features activities for kids and a live birds of prey display. Partners in this year’s event include the New Mexico Ornithology Society, Girl Scouts of America, the Central New Mexico Audubon Society and many more.
