Commissioner Lonnie Talbert today announced Bernalillo County is now accepting nominations for this year’s Day in Paradise Outstanding Citizen Award, which honors community members for their work to improve the Paradise Hills and other District 4 communities.
The outstanding citizens will be honored April 28 at Paradise Hills Park as part of the 2013 Day in Paradise community celebration.
Coaches, volunteers and neighborhood leaders have been honored in prior years.
“This is my first Day in Paradise celebration as a county commissioner, and I look forward to honoring our outstanding citizens for their work to improve our community,” Commissioner Lonnie Talbert says.
Talbert took office Jan.1 and represents District 4.
The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, April 10 at 5 p.m.
Examples of outstanding citizen candidates include District 4 residents with involvement in school or community groups, church groups, student government, outstanding students, long-time community residents, business owners, ministers, volunteers, teachers and coaches.
To qualify, nominees must:
- Live, work or attend school in District 4
- Demonstrate dedication to volunteerism and community service
- Serve as a role model and good example to the community

or by visiting any community center. The forms can be delivered in person to a community center, or by sending them to:

This year’s Day in Paradise celebration features entertainment from the Volcano Vista High School Color Guard, the James Monroe Middle School band, great food, and free entertainment and activities for the whole family.
