Bernalillo County government becomes even more transparent as it unveils its new Internet “Sunshine Portal.
" The Internet site, called “Bernco View," was requested by the County Commission in 2010 and developed by the county’s Information Technology Department to give taxpayers insight into county spending and operations. The site will include a link to an Inspection of Public Records Act request page for people seeking access to additional public records.
“The Sunshine Portal is now the official source for public information about Bernalillo County government. This is your window into government spending, budgets, revenues, contracts, records, and more,” said County Commission Chair Maggie Hart Stebbins. “We are excited about getting it on-line.”
“We’re proud to announce availability of the Transparency Portal on the public website ” said the county’s Chief Information Officer, Paul Roybal. “Our portal was developed in-house over the past year and exceeds the criteria established by the Sunshine Review Organization (www.sunshinereview.org), an organization that rates state and local government transparency based upon a ten point checklist.”
