BernCo To Host Small Business Summit Nov. 14
Bernalillo County’s economic development team is proud to sponsor another free small business summit this Wednesday, Nov. 14, featuring business planning sessions and details about accessing the Bernalillo County Revolving Loan Fund.
The Increment of 1 Initiative workshop is scheduled for the Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center, 501 Elizabeth Street S.E., in Albuquerque from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Small business owners and entrepreneurs are encouraged to sign up for free classes and learn more about the county’s small business loan fund and several other issues that impact small businesses from a team of experts.
“The Increment of 1 initiative was created on the premise that by helping small businesses improve their bottom line, new jobs would be created one increment at a time,” says Commissioner Wayne Johnson. “While it’s also important to focus on attracting large employers to our region, we can’t forget that successful small businesses really are the foundation of a healthy economy in our county and state.”
The Bernalillo County Revolving Loan Fund has helped 16 businesses get a start or expand since its creation in August 2010. The fund began with a $1 million investment, including $500,000 from the county and $500,000 from the private New Mexico Community Development Loan Fund. Currently, the balance is $435,453.
Wednesday’s event features workshops on cyber security, marketing, international trade, payroll, government procurement and small business assistance and lending.
