As of December 31, 2012 the Bernalillo County Court of Wills, Estates and Probate had 780 new cases filed.
To put this in perspective, in 2011 the court broke the 2010 record of 573 with 612 new cases.
Other courts in counties of New Mexico have as few as 20 cases or less a year. The second most busy court, Dona Ana County, has about 300 new cases a year.
The Second Judicial District Court, which can take both informal and formal probate cases, as of the last week of December 2012 had 590 total probate cases.
This is the first time ever that the Bernalillo County Probate Court has had more probate cases than the District Court. Moreover, the Bernalillo County Probate Court is leading by about 180 cases.
