Commissioner Maggie Hart Stebbins is holding her monthly "Lunch with the Commissioner" on Wednesday, Jan. 23 from noon to 1 p.m. at McKinley Community Center. This month's guest is Nan Masland, project coordinator for the county's public art program.
The Bernalillo County Public Art Program was established in 1992 for the purpose of promoting and encouraging public awareness of the arts. The program has over 176 works of art throughout the county.
Before coming to Bernalillo County, Nan worked at the Albuquerque Museum, Fine Arts for Children & Teens in Santa Fe, the Harwood Art Center and as Project and Education Outreach Coordinator for the city of Albuquerque’s Public Art Program.
She designed the “Rain to River” mosaic in the Hahn Arroyo and with the help of 160 volunteers completed 1,000 square feet of tile work. Nan’s responsibilities include managing public art projects, liaison to the Arts Board and conservation of the County’s art collection.
