South Valley Pride Day 2013 was a huge success! Click here to see photos from the weekend's events.
This year’s celebration began early Saturday morning as school and other volunteer groups gathered for a community cleanup at Westside Community Center. Later, top county leaders were on hand to answer questions from the public at the Hand-in-Hand event.
Sunday began with a parade at 11 a.m. at the corner of Blake Road and Isleta Boulevard S.W.,followed by a community celebration that highlighted this year’s South Valley Pride Day Outstanding Citizens, a diverse group of volunteers that have given back to the community.
Examples include public health doctors, volunteers that work with veterans, a teacher, generous small business owners, and many others.
Visitors also enjoyed a classic car show, great food, arts and crafts vendors, live music and performances by local schools.
“South Valley Pride Day is a chance to pause and celebrate the people and places that make our community such a fantastic place to live,” Commissioner Art De La Cruz says.
