Commissioner Hart Stebbins' District 3 Art Show, featuring the work of Ernesto Flores, will be on display at One Civic Plaza through March 1.
Mr. Flores's show is the 23rd in a series of exhibits showcasing the talent and creativity of District 3 artists.
Flores’ work features paintings, sculpture, and three-dimensional art that highlight the uniqueness of New Mexico. The work also encourages viewers to be introspective, he says.
“I’m pleased to host this powerful art show featuring New Mexican and veteran Ernesto Flores,” Commissioner Hart Stebbins says. “Mr. Flores is one of our very talented artists from District 3 and I’m pleased he will share his work with us and visitors to our offices.”
Flores credits much of his success to strong support from the Raymond G. Murphy Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Albuquerque.
He credits the VA with helping him get a degree from the University of Albuquerque and even finding employment as a professional artist over the years.
Flores encourages all veterans, especially those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, to take advantage of these services, “You definitely have to seek out mental health at the VA and they will see you through,” he says. “They will help you. You cannot give up on yourself.”
