District 4 County Commissioner Lonnie Talbert, community leaders and the 2012 Altamont Little League All-Stars released helium balloons to celebrate the completion of Eubank Boulevard, Phase 2 and the area recreational facilities on Saturday, Apr. 6.
Eubank Boulevard between Paseo Del Norte and Wilshire Avenue was completely reconstructed. The segment between Paseo del Norte and Corona Avenue is now a two-lane divided roadway with a landscaped center median, curb and gutter, bicycle lanes, an asphalt paved multi-use pedestrian trail, and storm drainage improvements.

The total project cost of the design and construction of Eubank Boulevard, Phase 2 was $2.1 million.
Over the past 10 years, the county’s Parks and Recreation Department has been constructing and making improvements to the county facilities in the area - Big Sky Hang Glider Park, Ben Greiner Soccer Complex, the North Domingo Baca Tennis Courts and Altamont Little League Fields. With the completion of the Eubank Boulevard, Phase 2 road project, residents now have easier, better and safer access to these facilities.
Saturday was the opening day for the Altamont Little League. Commissioner Talbert threw out the first pitch to commemorate the season’s opener.
