Bernalillo County will co-sponsor a statewide Bullying Prevention Symposium and Youth Gathering this Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University of New Mexico Student Union Building.
The event is an opportunity for decision-makers and those responsible for creating supportive environments for youth to gain a deeper understanding about bullying prevention as well as creating policies and programs that prevent bullying.
“Bernalillo County is proud to cosponsor this outstanding workshop and provide valuable educational resources for our community around bullying prevention,” Commission Chair Maggie Hart Stebbins says. “We’re committed to creating safe and positive places for young people to thrive.”
There are two days of events: A symposium for educators and professionals on Friday, and workshops for young people on Saturday.
On Saturday, a youth-focused event presents an opportunity for young people to talk with their peers about bullying and its impact on their lives, education and futures. The day will be composed of fun activities that get young people talking and working on solutions to stop violence in our schools and communities.
Educators and other professionals interested in Friday’s symposium may contact Ana-Lisa Torres at 505.314.0416.
