Bernalillo County, AMAFCA and the US Army Corps of Engineers will be presenting the construction plans and schedule of the Southwest Valley Flood Reduction Project, Phase 2 at a community meeting. The public is encouraged to attend.

Phase 2 of construction for the SVFRP will include upsizing of culvert crossings within the existing drains, construction of a detention pond referred to as Pond 187 which is south of Arenal Road, and expansion of the capacity of the drain between the crossings.
The county will oversee the design and construction of SVFRP Phase 2B which will include the upsizing of major culvert crossings within the Isleta, Los Padillas, and Armijo Drains to improve drain capacity. The county is also working with the Army Corps of Engineers on their design and construction of SVFRP Phase 2C for Pond 187 as well as their expansion of capacity for the Los Padillas Drain and the portion of the Isleta Drain between the Los Padillas Extension and Rio Bravo Boulevard.
Construction of Phases 2b and 2c are planned to begin late 2013.
