The Board of County Commissioners held an Emergency Administrative Meeting Thursday, March 5, and passed a resolution to impose fire restrictions throughout the unincorporated area of Bernalillo County.
“Severe drought conditions, high winds and low precipitation have created a dangerous environment conducive to wildfires,” says Commission Chair Deanna Archuleta. “Public safety is our number one focus and we want to be sure that we do everything we can to protect lives and properties in our community.’’
The fines associated with citations to those burning illegally are up to $300 or 90 days in jail or both.
Details of burning restrictions from Bernalillo County Fire Marshal Chris Gober.
