Bernalillo County Clerk Maggie Toulouse Oliver is pleased to announce the Clerk’s office is now accepting major credit cards over the counter to pay for recording and filing documents.
“This is just one more way we are working to make it easier for our customers to use our services,” says Clerk Toulouse Oliver. “Our entry into “e-commerce” began with on-line marriage applications, followed by access to the 4.7 million official documents that are recorded in our office. We also implemented e-Recording, used primarily by title companies, mortgage companies and the legal and banking community. E-recording allows these entities to record documents online, pay for the recording and receive the document number and verification from our office. The ability to pay with a credit card at the counter completes our initiative to implement a variety of on-line services.”
“The ability to offer on-line services to residents has been a two year project. The objectives were to eliminate the need for customers to make the trip downtown, reduce wait time for couples to obtain their marriage licenses and offer an alternative to lending institutions and title companies for the over 135,000 documents they file each year,” says Clerk Toulouse Oliver.
The e-Recording method has exceeded the traditional recording method and there is 100% participation from the local title companies. The County Clerk’s Office is the first within Bernalillo County to offer this wide range of on-line services.
