Bernalillo County Public Works crews are in a state of readiness for keeping our roads safe for travel during inclement weather. Crews have been salting in the East Mountains since last night in preparation for today’s winter storm. Grading operations will begin as soon as there is enough snow accumulation on the ground. Two plow trucks and three graders always run during winter snow operations.
“We want the residents of Bernalillo County to know that we have their safety in mind and we are certainly on top of this storm. Salt and sand are ordered in advance and there is severe storm material stockpiled, at any given time,” said Commissioner Michael Brasher, whose district covers the East Mountain areas of Bernalillo County.
To report snowy road conditions outside of the city limits, call the Bernalillo County Public Works main number at 848-1503. Calls for service are logged and transmitted every few hours to the supervisors for their awareness. Also, the x1503 extension has a recording that provides an after-hours phone number for non-emergency hazard and safety calls.
