With a winter storm brewing Commissioner Wayne Johnson is trying to prepare his district in the East Mountains for what could be an icy evening. “Our Public Works Division is staged and ready for this storm to hit,” says Commissioner Johnson. “They’ve strategically placed their equipment throughout the East Mountain area and as soon as the snow starts sticking -they’ll be salting and sanding.”
The County Public Works Division will be working closely with the Sheriff’s Office to assist in getting drivers to their jobs and homes safely. During regular business hours the main number for contacting a district road supervisor is 505-848-1503. The Sheriff’s Office will also be taking reports of hazardous road conditions. Their non emergency number is 505-798-7000.
The Public Works Division started staging their equipment this morning to prepare for the incoming storm. Well-known problem areas, bus routes and main arterials will be the first to receive sand and salt followed by less traveled roads.
Commissioner Johnson is encouraging East Mountain residents to start their trek home a little early to avoid any weather related traffic issues.
