Bernalillo County Clerk Maggie Toulouse Oliver would like to remind voters to update their voter registration information if their address has changed. A public awareness campaign is currently underway to make voters aware of this important responsibility.
“Each year, more than 200,000 residents move in and around Bernalillo County,” says Clerk Toulouse Oliver. “We need to make sure we have voters’ current information on file. Recently, the Secretary of State’s office made the public aware that county clerks would not be able to purge voters this year due to lack of fulfilling certain criteria by the former administration. Making sure the county clerk’s office has voters’ current information helps us maintain the integrity of the voter rolls in Bernalillo County.”
There are other benefits to keeping the information current with the Clerk’s Office, which include better and quicker access to voting information, fewer problems at the polls and an assurance that voters will receive critical information through the mail.
“It’s easy to do,” says Clerk Toulouse Oliver. “You can call 468-1291 or visit bernco.gov/elections.”
“If our office has the most up-to-date information, it makes certain that the voting systems in place will operate in a smooth and efficient manner.”
