The Bernalillo County Fire Department wants to remind citizens to test and if needed, change the batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors when setting clocks forward to Mountain Daylight Time this weekend. Remind friends, family members and neighbors to do the same.
“We’ve responded to fires where smoke alarms were in place, but the batteries had not been checked in a long time. Taking the time to check and replace batteries takes just a few moments, but is the best defense your family has against the devastating effects of a home fire.” says Fire Chief John Garcia.
The change to Mountain Daylight Time occurs at 2:00 a.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011.
