Bernalillo County Probate Judge Willow Misty Parks was recognized by Albuquerque Public Schools for her support of the district's "A is for Art" event, a fundraiser for the APS Education Foundation that features works of art by district students - and allows the public to purchase with funds split with the foundation and to the student. At this year's event, more than $47,000 was raised on behalf of the student-artists, the APS Education Foundaiton and the APS Fine Arts Department.
Judge Parks and Commission Chair Maggie Hart Stebbins have featured the students' works in their office suites for the last three years as a precursor to the event.

Judge Parks was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award by Central New Mexico Community College at an appreciation dinner on July 18.
Bernalillo County Probate Judge Willow Misty Parks on Dec. 19 received recognition from the Albuquerque Public Schools Board for her efforts in supporting student art.
The Bernalillo County Probate Court will now be called the Court of Wills, Estates & Probate. The County Commission tonight voted for the name change. “Changing the name will help clarify what we do,” says Judge Willow Misty Parks. “We get a lot of phone calls from folks looking for the probation offices.”
