Using Property Search and new Online Pay for Property Taxes
Property Search can be used to search property information in both the Assessor and Treasurer records. Start by searching either a property address in Bernalillo County or the Parcel ID. If you search by address, a description of how to enter the address for best results is provided on that page. Your search will produce a Parcel ID number. Clicking on that number will provide more options on the left side of the screen.
You can view "Current Ownership Data" (the date of last update is provided), Notice of Value or view a map of the parcel. When using the Map feature, you can click on any parcel showing (using the arrow/question mark pointer) and get ownership information or values for that property.
The newest feature is Online Pay for Property Taxes.
Notice the new "Pay" button on the Tax & Payment History page. From this page, you may now pay your property taxes online! Wells Fargo Bank, through their credit card processing partner "Pay Direct Solutions", is accepting Master Card, Visa, American Express and Discover.
Using the Pay button will take you through a five-step process. At each step you have an opportunity to review your payment process and can stop at any point up to the final payment submission. Pay Direct Solutions charges a 2.35% convenience fee to pay online.
One of the first screens will ask if you wish to Register. The registration process is not necessary to make a payment. You may by-pass registration by simply clicking "Proceed as Guest" and you never have to register if you don’t want. The benefit of registering is to establish and maintain a history of transactions. Once you register you can return using a login (name and password), and review current and prior transactions.
With or without registration, you can use the global payment basket, also called a "shopping cart." The payment basket is similar to those on other online sites. You may save transactions in progress, return to your selections (within a two hour period of time) and keep track of multiple payments. This is useful for someone paying more than one parcel.
You do not have to pay the full amount of property tax owed. On Step Two you may enter any amount you wish. There is a minimum convenience fee of $1.00.
The Treasurer points out that if you owe back taxes, any payment made will be applied to interest, penalties and delinquent tax amounts, in that order.
County Treasurer Patrick Padilla is pleased to offer this service and urges you to email the Treasurer's office with any property tax questions:
