The Bernalillo County Wastewater Ordinance requires connection to sewer if available and the evaluation, repair and replacement of failed septic systems.

The county provides financial assistance for low income individuals to connect to water and sewer (the PIPE program) and to address septic tank problems (the TANK program).

What does the financial assistance cover?

The PIPE program covers plumbing costs for connecting to municipal water and sewer lines and abandonment of your septic tank. The PIPE program may provide up to $4,500 in assistance.

The TANK program will pay for evaluation, repair and replacement of the septic system if sewer is not available and may offer up to $10,000 in assistance.
